This works 100% of the time. I know I was pissed when I got the game and couldn't play so I hope this brightens up some of your days. I'd recommend you do this without a party unless you guys are all around the same rank. You do earn Xp from this, but it's 500 per match or 1000 if you win, it's better than nothing. You get access to everything so if there's some guns that your weren't sure about and you don't want to waste your unlock tokens on them, nows your chance. These games affect your combat record as well which is the main reason why I've been playing (Just running around tearing up with the ballistic knife, but don't worry I'll be uploading gameplay of that shortly because I'm sure all of you are Blops deprived and want some new footage.
